week 12 - crunch time!

Welcome to the end of the session/year folks!

As usual, please check Russell's instructions for today. In particular, read through the "Independent Study" section for comments and suggestions on the final submission. In case you haven't noticed, Russell has altered the submission requirements...

You will need your UT3 serial number today...

Speaking of the final submission, as you know, the deadline is about two weeks from now (Friday 7 Nov)... don't leave things till the last minute.

week 11 - almost there...

Please read Russell's webpage on your task for today's tutorial.

In particular, I will be asking each group to document which game they will be implementing and what each team member will be doing and how that will be "distinct and significant"...

Remember also that you should be updating your Blog each week with examples of your work and reflections on what you've been doing.

Finally, have a look at the online feedback for experiment 2.

week 10 - Divide and Conquer!

Please make sure you read through Russell's instructions for today's tutorial and have a look at Russell's assessment sheet to study the submissions and assessment criteria for the final assignment. In particular, notice that the work you do today will hopefully form the basis of part of your final submission...

week 9 tutorial

from Russell's task webpage
  1. Watch the first 2 getting started UT3 video tutorials (by 3dBuzz).
You can find them here: \\Emustore\resources\samples\benv\BENV2423 - Lowe\UT3_Tutorials\ut3_GetStart_1-5
(I recommend you copy them to your local hard drive).
(The link above should work inside the FBE).
  2. Open the UT3 editor (in the start menu under cad and design) and follow along with the tutorials 3-5.
  3. Post a screenshot of your progress by the end of the class.

week 5 - Metric

Remember to set Solidworks to work in metric/metres. To do this select: Tools > Options > Document Properties > Units > MKS (meter, kilogram, second). I believe you can do this at any point - you don't have to do this before starting or anything...
Thanks Tony, I've corrected the link to your blog.

Tony Liu

Tony, the link to your blog is still not working! Please post a message to either this message or my week 1 message, giving the correct URL.

week 4 tutorial

Make sure you read russell's, experiment 2, week 1 web-page; it explains what you need to do during today's (week 4) tutorial and also what you need to do, in your own time, before next week's tutorial.

Thursday, August 14, 2008

David Butterworth has posted a most useful tutorial explaining how to embed video on your blog...

Assignment due next week...

Please make sure you carefully read Russell's EXPERIMENT 1: The Physical Effect of an Explosion on Porosity. page as well has his week 3 page... both pages have information on the assignment. In particular, note #4 "Come to next weeks lecture prepared to present your work, I'll be calling on students at random to discuss their work in front of the class"...

Blogs!

During the tutorial yesterday (week 1) I asked everyone to write the URL of their course blog; sadly two of those URLs didn't work... so can everyone please check the link to their blog and if necessary add a comment to this post, giving the correct URL.
